hitch

"When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world."

John Muir supposedly wrote this. but when i attempted to find the original source i discovered it is a widely circulated misquote.

the original:
"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe."

i like the original better
especially the words
hitched
universe

i am home in monterey for my last (relatively) stress free weekend before summer. i went to a bonfire with all of my highschool friends who are now at the community college.
funny how we used to talk so much about leaving monterey, yet here we are (content).

sun/tea

today was a sun day.

First, a sunny bike ride to the east side farmers market. i got peaches and mixed salad greens.
(i hope there will be a market nearby in Oregon)

at home i made some sun-brewed tea while i studied.

And later, the solar eclipse. i made a pinhole projector and set it up in the street outside. all my neighbors and their kids came out to see it too. most of them had never made pinhole projector and were going to try and look at the sun with only sunglasses on.

salutations

~Salutations is my fancy way of saying hello~
i like the word Salutations; i want to use it more often.

there are a mere 3 weeks of class left in Spring quarter. yet I have a midterm, 2 term papers, a class presentation, and 3 finals to complete in that time.

then i go to Oregon. i have never been there and i am very excited to go.
i am going for a paid internship working with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife where i will be doing shellfish and estuarine assessments. i think that is a fancy way of saying population studies.

any-who~~~
the countdown begins: 30 days until orientation, bright and early in the beaver state.

i leave you with a map of the drive i will make to begin my adventure:
