I am officially done with my summer internship.
Today I had my presentation which seemed to go over pretty well. Everyone I talked to said I was very relaxed and entertaining. That's really all I could have hoped for since I had no data to present.

on another note, we found a tetris clam in Tillamook a few weeks ago. If you look closely you can see many of the different shapes falling into place!

Oregon sunsets

are generally not this fantastic. But I'm glad I got to see this one before I leave for home on Sunday.

Many people are starting to leave. A few left last week; about 6 left today; and almost everyone else leaves next weekend. It's sort of sad. I always want summer to last forever even if I do miss Santa Cruz a lot.

I made a pie with Liz on her last night at Hatfield. We used some of the fresh blackberries I had picked.
It turned out really well, with Liz's help with the sailboat shape. The pie recipe I have been using this summer: blackberry pie (can be used with similar berries)

cape perpetua

I went on a hike at Cape Perpetua. It is supposed to have one of the best views of the oregon coast.

Unfortunately just as I arrived the fog started coming in so when I got to the top viewpoint all I could see was a white wall.

But I could still hear the ocean waves crashing below so it was a different kind of nice.
I may try and go back tomorrow or Sunday if the fog goes away.
(this is my last weekend in Oregon...)

pacific northwest adventures

I went to Seattle and Portland. Unfortunately I only got to spend a day in Seattle and a few hours in Portland. I'll have to find time to go again sometime.

From the Seattle Aquarium:

From Pike Place Public Market:

Seattle skyline From the ferry:

I picked blueberries off the bush.
I've never liked blueberries from the store, but my coworkers convinced me that fresh Oregon blueberries are completely different.
They were right and I bought 1/4 of a flat to take back home to Hatfield.

The next day we picked wild blackberries next to some old railroad tracks. My arms and legs got very scratched but it was worth it for the 3 liters I ended up picking.

so tasty.

so yummy.

I've been slacking.
sorry.
I'm going to Seattle this weekend, so I will have exciting adventures to share after that.
Happy Wednesday!
