Tillamook Bay

I am in the little town of Garibaldi right now, which sits on the Northern end of Tillamook Bay. I am here for more field research.

I don't know if anyone consistently reads these, but I was here all last week and will be here all this week. I didn't bring my computer last time, hence the lack of new posts.

We are doing a subtidal survey of clams in the Tillamook, just like we did around the NOAA dock a few weeks ago. But this time we are looking at all the "target" species, not just gapers. And boy have we found lots of clams. But I'll get into that in another post later this week.

I don't have many pictures because we have been way too busy on the boats. Today we finished our 5th day of diving and this is the first day we were on the water less than 10 hours. Long days for sure!!
Last week while I was here I went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory with one of my coworkers, Kami.

The whole town of Tillamook smells like cows. My coworkers thought it was a little odd that I wasn't put off by the smell. It actually reminded me a little of my aunts old farm.

I sampled some cheese even though its not my favorite thing in the world to eat and then got some really tasty Marionberry Pie ice cream. It had chunks of "pie crust" in it, but I'm convinced that the chunks are the same as the chocolate chip cookie dough chunks, minus the mini chocolate chips. It was delicious though and now I am inspired to attempt to make my own pie ice cream. Maybe when I get back to santa cruz in September?
